About the team
We're standing up a new function at Alloy: Forward Deployed Engineering. Our largest enterprise customers need a trusted technical partner with a strong point of view on how Alloy fits into their tech stack and fraud strategy. As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you'll be that partner - embedded with our most strategic accounts and owning the technical outcome end-to-end, with each deployment becoming the foundation for the next.
You'll be one of the first two engineers on this founding team. This is a software engineering role through and through - based within our Engineering org, with a scope that spans software, product, and solutions engineering. You won't just join this function - you'll define how it works.
Alloy operates in a hybrid-work environment. We look to foster collaboration and community by having our local employees onsite three days a week.
What you'll be doing
- Architect and tune customer and channel-partner deployments end-to-end — API integrations, third-party data integrations, SDKs, and latency constraints.
- Write production code across our stack: TypeScript, JavaScript (ES6/React), Python (Django), Node.js, PostgreSQL, OpenSearch, and AWS.
- Serve as Alloy's credible technical voice with customer engineering leadership, making architectural calls in real time.
- Own the engineering track of QBRs for your accounts and serve in their on-call escalation path.
- Turn your work into reusable platform primitives and docs, so each deployment makes the next one faster.
Who we’re looking for
- 5+ years of hands-on experience developing production-ready software, with a proven track record of delivering robust, scalable solutions.
- Experience in a customer-facing technical role, Forward Deployed Engineering, solutions engineering with deep technical ownership, or similar - where you were accountable to an external stakeholder, not just an internal roadmap.
- Strong backend and API fluency, with the ability to read and write production code across services you don't own.
- Sound architectural judgment under ambiguity: you can make and defend technical decisions in the room, with a customer watching.
- A genuine pull toward customer-facing work - you find energy in solving a real customer's real problem, alongside their engineers.
- A clear technical communicator who can explain a complex integration tradeoff to a bank's VP of Engineering and to an Alloy PM in the same afternoon.
Nice to have:
- Experience at a company with a strong Forward Deployed Engineering culture (Palantir, Scale AI, Ramp, Plaid, Stripe, etc.).
- Familiarity with identity, fraud, KYC/KYB, or financial services infrastructure.
- Experience with SDK development or embedded front-end integrations.
We're a lean team, so your impact will be felt immediately, and opportunities will grow as the company scales up. If this all sounds like a good fit for you, why not join us?
